Tom Collamore
Senior Advisor
Tom Collamore is the senior advisor to the George and Barbara Bush Foundation, representing the foundation in Washington, D.C. to further President and Mrs. Bush’s legacy of service. Tom is the founder of Collamore Consulting Group LLC, a strategic counsel and advisory firm serving foundations, corporate executives and trade associations.
From 2007 to 2018 Tom was the chief communications officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he was Executive Vice President and Counselor to the President.
Before joining the Chamber in 2007, Tom spent 14 years with Altria Group, Inc., as vice president of Corporate Public Affairs.
Tom served as chief of staff and assistant secretary of commerce in the George H.W. Bush administration. He was also assistant secretary of commerce for administration, serving as the secretary’s principal adviser on management issues and as the department’s chief financial officer. For these positions he was nominated by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Tom served as liaison to the transition offices of the president-elect and the vice president-elect from 1988 to 1989.
From 1985 to 1989, Tom served in the White House on former Vice President Bush’s senior staff. During that time, Tom traveled with Bush, visiting more than 30 countries and all 50 states, and was a senior traveling aide throughout the campaign for president, culminating in Bush’s 1988 election. Tom began his government service as special assistant to Secretary of Commerce Malcolm Baldrige from 1981 to 1985. He received the Commerce Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Federal Service in 1985.
In 1979 and 1980 Tom was a staff member of the George Bush for President campaign in Connecticut.
Tom is immediate past President of the board directors of the Benedictine School for Exceptional Children in Ridgely, Maryland and is on the advisory council of the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas. Tom is a former board member of Citymeals on Wheels in New York and the former board chairman of MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C.
A native of Connecticut, Tom graduated from Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, where he serves as a trustee emeritus. He graduated magna cum laude from Drew University, where he previously served on the board of trustees. Tom resides in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with his wife, Jacqueline, and their four children.
