George & Barbara Bush Foundation Announces Secretary Robert M. Gates as Co-Chair of The Centennial Campaign
COLLEGE STATION, Texas, March 12, 2024 –The George & Barbara Bush Foundation is pleased to announce that former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will join Ryan M. Lance, Chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips, as co-chair of the Centennial Campaign.
The Centennial Campaign is a $50 million campaign to expand and boost the offerings at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum and The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University in College Station.
The Centennial Campaign will:
- Fund the construction of The Pavilion for the Marine One helicopter and the Union Pacific 4141 Locomotive with an onsite café.
- Expand the endowed scholarship and program offerings of The Bush School of Government & Public Service.
- Increase support for the Bush Foundation’s endowment to continue unique and relevant program offerings for its constituents.
- Expand endowment programs and upgrade technology within the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum.
“The Centennial Campaign will help preserve and promote President Bush's historic record of impact on the world as well as perpetuate his living legacy through the Bush School,” said Secretary Robert M. Gates. “I am honored to help lead this campaign for future generations to be able to come and learn more about the selfless life of service of our 41st President.”
Naming opportunities are available and include naming of The Marine One/4141 Locomotive Pavilion, Dean’s Endowed Chair at the Bush School, Educational Classroom at the Library & Museum, Presidential Pond and Gardens at the Bush Presidential Center, and many more options. Gifts of $25,000 or more will receive donor wall recognition in the new Marine One/4141 Locomotive Pavilion. The Pavilion will open to the public on June 13, 2024, as part of the Bush Foundation’s centennial commemoration, 41@100: A Celebration of George H.W. Bush, which will be a special series of events June 11-13, 2024, at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, Texas.
