COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - We are hearing from Union Pacific on the 4141 Locomotive they painted and donated to the George and Barbara Bush Foundation.
This past week, the new 29,000 square foot pavilion that was built around the 4141 Locomotive and Marine One helicopter was opened to the public as part of the 41@100 celebration.
Clint Schelbitzki is the Union Pacific Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs in the Spring, Texas office. He congratulated the Foundation and the George H.W. Bush Library & Museum on such an accomplishment of building that pavilion.
Watch the previous report on the history of 4141 here. The locomotive was dedicated in 2005. It operated in freight service until late 2011, then was mostly stored until it was used to lead President Bush’s railway funeral car to College Station in 2018.
